NCSOFT cancelled Project M
The Korean publisher NCSOFT canceled the development of Project M, an ambitious project from the authors of Lineage. The company has not officially disclosed the reason for the cancellation.
Project M was supposed to be a big-budget action game based on Unreal Engine 5 with non-linear elements: the decisions made by the players had to be reflected both in the plot and in the game world. Also, according to the authors, the project was supposed to demonstrate some achievements in AI (the developers did not explain which ones).
In addition, NCSOFT announced a restructuring, in which the company fired an unnamed number of employees. Probably, the reason for the cancellation of Project M was the financial difficulties of the company.
