Microsoft has closed Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks studios

Microsoft has closed several of its studios: Arkane Austin (Prey, Redfall), Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within, Hi-Fi RUSH), Alpha Dog Studios (Mighty Doom) and Roundhouse Games (The Elder Scrolls Online) were cut.

Employees learned about the closure of the studios from a letter from the head of Xbox Games Studios, Matt Butti. He said the reason for the closure was global company restructuring. Arkane and Tango Gameworks responded to the news on their social networks by issuing messages to players.

Arkane Austin’s support for Redfall will cease, but the game’s servers will continue to work. It is still unclear whether players who pre-ordered the DLC will be able to get their money back.

Microsoft became the owner of the studios after purchasing the ZeniMax holding about three and a half years ago.
