E3 is closing – the expo will not return even in online format
Stanley Pierre-Louis, president and CEO of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), announced the closure of the E3 — the legendary conference will not return even in an online format.
The reason for the cancellation lies in the loss of popularity among companies and publishers: in 2023, all major players refused to participate in E3, including Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and Ubisoft. This decision is due to the fact that platform holders and publishers have their own events, during which companies demonstrate their titles.
E3 has been held since 1995 almost without interruption. ESA experimented with the format of the expo, but none of the experiments regained the conference’s lost popularity.
