Valve Allows Installation of SteamOS on Third-Party Devices
Valve has announced that the SteamOS, which powers Steam Deck, can now be installed on devices from other manufacturers. The beta version of the “open” system will be available by April this year.
One of the first third-party devices on SteamOS was the Lenovo Legion Go S. The full list of PCs that will receive the system is still unknown, but manufacturers will likely add SteamOS to already released popular devices like the Asus ROG Ally.
Valve also openly supported Bazzite, a fan fork of SteamOS developed by the community. The company noted the potential of the system, although it noted the need for its improvement.
