Ubisoft Continues Development of Splinter Cell Remake
Insider Gaming reports that Ubisoft is working on a remake of the first Splinter Cell — despite rumors circulating about the project’s cancellation. The publication confirmed the game’s status with its own sources.
The remake, which has the working title “North”, is being developed on the Snowdrop engine, which powers all major Ubisoft projects (Star Wars Outlaws, the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and Assassin’s Creed series). The release date of the updated stealth action game is unknown, but Insider Gaming’s sources suggest that the project will be released in 2026.
Ubisoft announced a remake of Splinter Cell in 2021. The project will be consistent with the original game — the title will have a linear level structure and the same gameplay mechanics.
