Ubisoft announced the closure of the shooter XDefiant and fired employees
Ubisoft announced the closure of XDefiant. Registration and transactions in the game are no longer available, and those who managed to purchase any content in the last 30 days will receive a full refund. At the same time, the game servers will work until June 3, and the shooter itself will have a full third season — as a sign of gratitude to the players.
At the same time, journalist Tom Henderson published an appeal from the head of the company, Yves Guillemot, to employees, in which he announced a new wave of layoffs. 143 people will be laid off in the San Francisco office, and another 134 employees will be fired from the structures in Osaka and Sydney (while the offices in San Francisco and Osaka can be considered effectively closed).
Guillemot said that the closure of XDefiant was due to Ubisoft’s new strategy and promised that all those laid off would receive support from the company — however, the top manager did not report on specific measures.
