Starbreeze cancelled the Dungeons & Dragons Project

Starbreeze Studio has announced the cancellation of Project Baxtor, a cooperative action role—playing game based on the Unreal Engine 5 in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The project was announced in early 2023.

The company also announced the dismissal of 44 employees and the write—off of $27 million spent on development (Starbreeze separately noted the severity of the decision). Now the studio will direct all resources to support and develop the Payday series.

In September, the company announced a subscription, which provides access to all released Payday 2 add-ons, despite the fact that the current game in the franchise is Payday 3, which, however, has not gained much love from players.
