Star Citizen Development Fundraising Surpasses $800 Million

Cloud Imperium Games has announced that Star Citizen development fundraising has surpassed the $800 million mark — the jump in funds occurred between April 3 and April 6.

It’s hard to say how these record-breaking funds will affect the project’s development: Star Citizen doesn’t yet have a clear release date, and the single-player spinoff Squadron 42 is planned for release only in 2026 (however, the game may well be postponed to a later date).

Despite the steady influx of funds, Cloud Imperium may still have financial problems: for example, at the end of last year, the company cut part of its QA department.
