Rumor: next PlayStation and Xbox will be released in 2027

Video Games Chronicle, citing unnamed sources, reported that Sony and Microsoft plan to release their new consoles as early as 2027.

Both consoles will be based on AMD chips and will significantly outperform the current generation in performance. The new Xbox is expected to be significantly more powerful than the PlayStation, but its price could increase significantly — up to $1,000. The PS6 will remain comparable in price to the previous generation and will offer some “revolutionary” ray tracing solutions.

Sony is also rumored to be working on a portable PlayStation: the device will support games from the base PS6 and will be announced simultaneously with the base console.
