Rumor: EA cancels development of Dead Space 2 remake

Jeff Grubb in the new episode of the Game Mess Mornings podcast revealed details about the fate of the remake of Dead Space 2. According to an insider, the publishing house Electronic Arts canceled the development of the project after unsatisfactory sales of the remake of the first part.

Grubb did not say whether EA had even started production on a remake of Dead Space 2. Sales of the remake of the original Dead Space also remain unknown: the company did not disclose the results of the project. It is also worth noting that EA has already frozen the series after the bad sales of Dead Space 3.

EA responded to the rumor by saying that a remake of Dead Space 2 was never in active production. Perhaps the company will still start developing the project in the future. Currently, EA Motive, responsible for the remake of the original, is working on other games: an action game based on Iron Man franchise and the next part of Battlefield.
