Microsoft won’t raise game prices to $80 until the end of 2025

Microsoft has announced that company will not raise the prices of its games to $80 until the end of this year — all 2025 releases will cost $70.

This decision was made after criticism of the price of Outer Worlds 2 — the role-playing game from Obsidian was originally supposed to be sold for $80. Now Microsoft has returned the price of the title to the modern standard of $70, and the company has advised those who have already pre-ordered the project to apply for a refund and re-purchase Outer Worlds 2.

Despite the decision not to raise prices, the tone of the message makes it clear that this is a temporary approach. Apparently, the prices of Microsoft games in 2026 will still rise to $80.
